Normal service as usual in Derryleigh Park
Whilst the past couple of weeks have been very disheartening for Irish football & local League of Ireland football, we urge all our players, coaches, sponsors, supporters and their families to continue supporting Newport Town AFC, your local grassroots club. We are running this club for our community to the very best of our abilities in an open and transparent manner. The committee do not own this club. It is owned by our players, coaches and the countless people who help out, all in a completely voluntary and unpaid capacity. We love football and we only want what’s best for Newport Town AFC. Let's continue to embrace and nurture football in our town and surrounding areas and give our club the support it deserves. As we enter our 50th anniversary year in 2020, the club now needs your support more than ever.
Unfortunately, the poor weather conditions led to all junior games being called off last weekend. The junior sides are now all on a break until the New Year, when traditionally the Lawson Cup is the first game of the new year. Newport have been drawn at home to Div 2B side, Abbey Rovers. Whoever wins this game will be at home to the winners of Northside & Cappamore in round 2. Date & kick off time to be confirmed.
Unfortunately all schoolgirl games were also cancelled due to the weather and the season will resume after the Christmas break on Saturday, January 4.

Finally, the soccer club would like to wish everyone in Newport and surrounding areas, especially our players, coaches, supporters, sponsors and their families a very peaceful Christmas and a happy New Year. Thank you to all our club sponsors and local businesses for their support throughout the year and to everyone who supported the club’s various fundraising efforts during 2019. Without people’s generosity and goodwill towards the soccer club, it would not be possible to progress the club forward.
